Welcome to my pregnancy blog post!
My name is Lindsay and I am a personal trainer, mom and wife. I found that with my first pregnancy there was very little information about working out, eating healthy and being pregnant. At the beginning of my first pregnancy I was training clients 35-40 hours per week, lifting 50-150 pounds on a regular basis and working out on a regular basis. With that in mind, when I talked with my doctor at my 8 week appointment and asked about restrictions for working out her response was “well, I’m not sure I normally tell women to not lift over 20 pounds”. This was utterly frightening to me. I loved working out and know that workouts can help improve the nerve function and increase muscle fibers of my baby to be, but she was telling me the complete opposite. Through my own research, I was able to come up with a plan that met my needs. Needless to say I lifted weights up until the week before my son was born. Literally 4 pushes and he was out. Now I can’t prove that my pushing ability was solely due to my weightlifting, but I think it helped!
Now that I am expecting our second child this coming May, I would like to share my experiences, my fitness and my nutrition with other women looking to stay fit while being pregnant. Pregnancy can be a scary thing especially if it’s your first, so I hope this blog can help women feel more comfortable continuing your workouts for yourself and your little one.
